About the course
Facilitated by Fiona Collins, this Masterclass is aimed at occupational therapists who wish to develop their practice in the area of seating and posture. Attendance at this one day highly interactive Masterclass will enable delegates to palpate key landmarks of the pelvis relevant to sitting position, identify abnormal sitting posture and make accurate judgements on the postural changes found. Please note that this course is for adults and children, and not specifically for those working in paediatrics. This masterclass has been mapped against the RCOT Career Development Framework and is suitable for level 6 and above
Delegates will:
- Learn how to conduct a postural assessment of the client in a supine position
- Understand how to determine the specific factors relating to the development of pressure injury when seated
- Learn how to identify and prioritise seating goals following assessment
About the speaker
Fiona Collins is an Occupational Therapist with 30 years’ experience in pressure injury prevention and management. Specialising in posture and seating, Fiona's clinical expertise has gained her a national reputation within the seating arena. Fiona's advice is sought by clinicians, industry and professional bodies.
Fiona undertakes Expert Witness cases on behalf of the Civil Court, Crown Court, Coroner's Court and the police. Her articles have been extensively published and she is co-author of 2 books 'A-Z Dictionary of Wound Care' and 'Tissue Viability: a Comprehensive Guide' (Whurr publications). Fiona is the South East Regional Director for Healogics Ltd and is based in Eastbourne, where she is responsible operationally for several teams of clinicians who successfully deliver on a variety of contracts for specialist Tissue Viability and Lymphoedema services to six CCGs in East and West Sussex.
