The Challenge
Will* (10) has ASD & ADHD, he was very anxious about COVID & stuck at home shielding with family. He was no longer able to participate in 1:1 therapeutic play & meaningful movement activities that helped his sensory processing & physical development.
The Change
We granted Will inclusive play equipment, an iPad & access to the Calm app to use at home. We phoned mum to check how they were, provided play tips & asked them how we could help at this time; collaboratively with other Council & 3rd sector services.
The Impact
Will’s family told us we have been a significant support to them at this time & they have been able to play together at home as a family. This has helped reduce anxiety & enabled positive family interaction whilst keeping Will active at home.
