The Challenge
I met a woman in her 20's who was a regular face in hospital due to a heart condition. Unfortunately during her many hospital stays had met professionals that had asked questions but never really listened often leaving her feeling dismissed/dejected.
The Change
We talked about her previous experiences. She had a passion for helping others and sharing her experiences of transitioning from paediatric services to adult services. I put her in contact with a someone who could help her get her voice heard.
The Impact
She wanted to pursue a career as an OT! But is now an advocate for children transitioning to adult services. Talking about the challenges she faced as a young person in adult wards, sharing ideas to improve practice.
